City make seven changes for Brentford clash

Pep Guardiola has made seven changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Brighton in midweek.

Ederson, Nathan Ake, Aymeric Laporte, Kalvin Phillips, Cole Palmer, Julian Alvarez, and Sergio Gomez all start against the Bees.

Making way are Stefan Ortega Moreno, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Erling Haaland, Rodrigo, and Bernardo.

All bar De Bruyne are on the bench.

PREVIOUS MEETING

City lost for the first time at the Etihad Stadium in 2022/23 when a dramatic injury-time strike handed Brentford victory. 

Ivan Toney gave the visitors the lead, before Phil Foden‘s stinging volley levelled the score on the cusp of half-time.

We pushed for a winner in the second half, but it was Thomas Frank’s side who would find the game’s third goal with Toney tapping home in stoppage time.

LAST TIME OUT

We extended our unbeaten run in all competitions to 25 matches with a 1-1 draw away to Brighton on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, Brentford secured a stunning 3-1 victory away to Tottenham Hotspur in their last outing, with Bryan Mbeumo scoring twice and assisting Yoan Wissa’s effort.
