Gareth Taylor says City will continue to monitor Jill Roord closely to assess her condition in the wake of the injury that forced her off in Wednesday’s 2-1 Continental Cup win over Manchester United.

The Dutch midfielder came off in the ninth minute of that impressive derby win at the Joie Stadium.

She is currently under the care of the Club’s medical team, and we will await the results of any appropriate investigations in the coming days.

Roord has enjoyed an incredible start to life at City, grabbing eight goals and three assists so far in her debut campaign.

Addressing the media ahead of Sunday’s latest Barclays Women’s Super League trip to Tottenham, the boss said of the midfielder: “Jill is currently with the medical team.

“She’s fine in herself but we’ll see how things settle down.

“She’ll be assessed over the next 24 hours. She’s in good spirits, and she feels okay.”

The boss also provided a positive update on Australian international Alanna Kennedy.

The defender has been sidelined since being forced off with an Achilles injury in December’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa.

But Taylor revealed that Kennedy was now fully fit and available for selection this weekend.

“Alanna’s back in contention, she’s been in training for a while but she’s building up,” the boss added.

“Wednesday was too soon but she’ll be in the squad at the weekend, She’ll be available to feature at some point.

“That’s a good one for us because we’ve missed her.
Players have stepped up (in her absence) but having someone like her back is good.”

Meanwhile Taylor said that City were braced for another tough test at the hands of Spurs in a game that CITY+ subscribers will be able to watch live.

The London club will go into Sunday’s game lying sixth in the Barclays Women’s Super League table.

City recorded a convincing7-0 win over Spurs at home earlier this season, but Taylor said he was reading nothing into that result ahead of this weekend’s clash.

“They’re improving, they have done a lot of deals. The team’s changed, but they’ve got players at the top end who are a threat,” the City boss pointed out.

“We had the situation here where the first 20 minutes was tight, we were in control but felt we were a little slow in our play, but we scored and opened up.

“It’s a tough game for us. They’re improving under a new coach and starting to become a different kind of proposition.”
