The Jamaican rounded off the scoring in a memorable 3-1 win at Old Trafford when she got a boot to Manchester United goalkeeper Mary Earps’ attempted clearance.
It was just rewards for Bunny, whose tireless display had also seen her set up Lauren Hemp for City’s second in front of over 43,000 supporters.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Continental Cup clash against Leicester City, which is available to watch live on CITY+, Taylor singled out the forward for particular praise.
“All strikers want to score and the longer the game went on last night she contributed in being a real strong presence,” the boss explained in his pre-match press conference.
“Her hold up play was good, she created some good chances and had a couple herself which she probably felt she could do better with.
“But the type of goal she scored last night was really impressive. It was a different type of goal, but one that really cemented why we need her to push and give energy at the top of the team, particularly when the opposition have the ball.
“I thought our front three did that and Bunny was rewarded with the goal. It brings confidence for her because she knows she’ll get chances in this team.
“If her finishing capacity is good then she will get a lot of goals.
“We were really pleased with what she did last year, but we feel like there’s more to come from Bunny. Her improvement year on year has been really good.”
City come into Wednesday’s 19:00 (UK) kick-off with a spring in our step following a convincing display in the derby.
Taylor is hoping for a similar result and performance against a Leicester side who caused us plenty of problems in our WSL meeting earlier this season.
Chloe Kelly’s early strike proved the difference at the King Power Stadium, and another win in the Conti Cup would prove a huge step towards our prospects of reaching the last eight with a game to spare.
That final group fixture is against United in January 2024, and the boss is hoping his players can take the pressure off that game a little by making it three wins from three in Group B later this week.

The boss said: “You don’t know what’s enough, but you’d like to think nine points is a good tally to have with a game to play against United in the new year.
“We want to make sure our business is done properly this end.
“It’s not going to be easy, we expect Leicester to come out and engage, but the girls trained today and looked good and up for it.
“We need to continue with that like we did against United, that attitude, confidence and endeavour that we’ll take confidence from that result last night.”
