City legend Francis Lee takes pride of place on the front of Saturday’s matchday programme.

Our game against Brighton will see the late, great strike hero adorn the cover as we bring you a wonderful illustrated visual of the moment he celebrated with fans on the day we won the 1967/68 League Championship.

We also have four pages dedicated to one of our finest-ever players, including beautifully crafted messages from fans.

His good friend and playing colleague, Mike Summerbee, also dedicates his ‘Buzzer’ column to Francis and he talks emotionally and, of course, fondly about the striking star of our 1960s and 1970s team, who sadly passed away earlier this month.

There’s another icon remembered in this edition, too, as we mark the 100th birthday milestone of goalkeeper Bert Trautmann.

Trautmann was born a century ago this Sunday in 1923 and we’re celebrating his rich life and legendary career in the matchday programme.

He made 545 appearances for the Blues between 1949 and 1964, ensuring he still stands fourth on the all-time appearance list, behind only Mike Doyle, Joe Corrigan and Alan Oakes.

Trautmann, who sadly died in 2013, wrote his name into City folklore when he continued to play during the 1956 FA Cup final, despite breaking his neck in a challenge with Birmingham City striker Peter Murphy, helping ensure we won 3-1 in the Wembley showpiece.

We have an interview with Bernardo Silva, match reports on our last four games, a look back at ‘How the Treble Was Won’, reviews of the Under-18s, EDS and Women’s teams and an important update on prostate cancer from a former manager.

There’s the usual favourites too, like Pep Guardiola’s notes, columns from Gary James and Mark McCarthy and the opposition spotlight to name a few.

Make sure you get your hands on the official matchday programme, which costs £4, because it really is the perfect way to get you in the mood for the big game.
