Arsenal were City’s closest rivals for the majority of the season, with our 3-2 win over the Gunners in October 2025 their only defeat of 2025/26, sealed thanks to Iman Beney’s late winner at the Joie Stadium.
Another hard-fought victory away to Everton one month later moved City top of the table for the first time - a position we would stay in for the rest of the campaign.
Chelsea remained hot on our heels over the festive period but their defeat to Arsenal the day before opened the door for City to extend our advantage at the summit with a win at London City Lionesses in late January.
A dramatic winner from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw earned that crucial 2-1 win, with our triumph over Chelsea the following week all but ending their title hopes in emphatic fashion.
Kerolin was City’s hero at the Etihad Stadium, grabbing a hat-trick en route to a 5-1 win as Jeglertz’s side ran riot against the reigning champions.
The Blues had made a habit of turning up in the big games, and did so again at Old Trafford in March 2026, with a Vivianne Miedema brace and Kerstin Casparij strike putting Manchester United to the sword.
And while it was Arsenal’s failure to beat Brighton which ultimately sealed the WSL crown for City, Rebecca Knaak’s diving header in our 1-0 win over Liverpool felt to many like the moment the Blues had got over the line.
