Each year, upon the conclusion of the FA Women’s Super League campaign, we celebrate the team’s achievements with an Awards Ceremony.
We’re inviting you – the fans – to pick your Player of the Season and Goal of the Season with the winners to be announced on our Matchday Live show for our men’s Premier League trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday 11 May.
Who was your star performer? Whose contribution was key? Who was the most consistent? Who stepped up when it really mattered?
The nominees for this year’s Player of the Season are:
• Alex Greenwood
• Lauren Hemp
• Keira Walsh
Greenwood has been an ever-present in the City backline throughout the campaign, featuring in every single one of our 36 games, starting all bar one. Her consistency and leadership have shone through and she has also contributed at the attacking end of the pitch. She was nominated for February’s FA WSL Player of the Month and won the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month and has earned plenty of acclaim from her manager and peers.
Hemp has also starred as a creative spark, once again showcasing her electric pace, skill and finishing ability. The three-time FA Young Player of the Year and Northwest Football Awards Rising Star stands as her side’s top scorer with an impressive 19 goals in 35 games, and has also crafted ten assists. After signing a new deal at the turn of the year, she clocked her 100th appearance for the Club in April and is also regularly shortlisted for the league’s Player of the Month prizes.
Lifelong City fan Walsh is another of our highest appearance makers this campaign and tallied her 200th appearance for her beloved Club in March. Technically gifted and a true leader, the defensive midfielder - widely regarded as the best in the world in her position - has produced a string of influential displays, pulling the strings as the beating heart of the team.
