GARETH TAYLOR Preview

Gareth Taylor says his players have returned in ‘good shape’ after the international break.

“Availability wise, we’re still waiting on our two Australian players (Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy) to return,” the boss explained.

“They’ll be back on Friday. The girls look really good. The spirits are good. It was a difficult couple of days for the England’s players.

“In terms of the atmosphere and the way the girls have come back in and the way they’ve come back in, and everything looks positive.”

LAST TIME OUT

In our previous WSL outing, City displayed an outstanding performance in front of a home crowd during our 7-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

A first half Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw hat-trick set the pace for Taylor’s team.

Lauren Hemp and Jill Roord extended City’s lead before a Laura Coombs brace topped off a stellar 90 minutes of football.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Our previous encounter with Carla Ward’s side saw us fall to a narrow 2-1 defeat in the quarter-final of the FA Cup.

Rachel Corsie gave Villa the lead after 20 minutes before Deyna Castellanos’s 38th-minute strike drew us level and into extra-time.

Rachel Daly’s goal in the 97th minute saw City knocked out of the competition.
