GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the boss said the whole squad need to be ready to make an impact ahead of a busy fixture schedule.

“[It’s] a game at a time. We prepare for tomorrow then have a bit of rest until the game Thursday.

“The turnaround is tight, particularly when you have to travel. [But] The players are at a level where they are used to this intense period and we’ve spoken about how we’ve enjoyed these moments rather than one game weeks.

“Two game weeks is exciting. The players who are not starting need to be ready and they have been. The contributions have been really good.

“If you look at Jess Park as an example she had to wait but then made an impact when she came on.

“Now she gets an opportunity in the team and needs to continue to perform. There’s a good feeling among the team at the moment.

“Confidence is high and for us it’s about concentrating on tomorrow’s game then after that it’s about recovering onto the next.”

Last time out

City signed off for the international break with a statement win against WSL title rivals Chelsea.

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s first half strike proved the difference, as Gareth Taylor’s side became the first team to beat the reigning champions at Kingsmeadow in over three years.

It also extended our remarkable defensive record to five consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.

PREvious meeting

City have locked horns with Everton twice already this season in the Continental Cup Group Stages and in our final match of 2023 in the WSL.

In the first encounter, back in October 2023, goals from Jess Park and Shaw helped us over the line at Walton Hall Park to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win.

Two months later and a Jill Roord strike, followed by a Shaw hat-trick, saw us round off the year with a convincing 4-1 victory on Merseyside.

Form guide

Gareth Taylor’s side come into Saturday’s showdown in scintillating form, having won each of our last 11 matches in all competitions.

City are unbeaten in the WSL since November and have conceded just once in the competition in 2024.

We currently sit second in the table, level on points and with the same goal difference as Chelsea, but below Emma Hayes’ side due to their superior goal tally so far this season.

Everton are ninth in the WSL but have won each of their last two in all competitions, comfortably beating Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round before two late goals saw off West Ham before the international break.
