Khiara Keating played the full 90 minutes as England U19s were held to a 1-1 draw by Slovenia in Nyon.

Keating, currently on loan with Coventry United, was a spectator for much of the afternoon as England had a total of 21 shots but the points were shared in this Euro 2023 qualifier.

Slovenia took the lead in the 78th minute when midfielder Korina Lara Janez fired home from the penalty spot.

Despite their dominance, England looked likely to come away from the fixture empty handed until Sunderland’s Katy Watson scored a 93rd minute equaliser.

City’s Annie Hutchings, on loan at Blackburn Rovers, was an unused substitute.

Emma Coates’ side will be disappointed not to have won the game but can take heart from their performance, having had six corners and two clear chances, according to UEFA’s own stats.

It sees England start Group A4 of qualification for this summer’s tournament in Belgium with one point.

Fellow Group A4 sides Spain and Belarus played earlier in the day, with Spain running out 8-0 victors.

England are next in action on Saturday, facing Belarus at 10:00 (UK) before they face Spain on Tuesday 11 April at 13:15.
