Iman Beney says City come into our Barclays Women's Super League clash with Arsenal ready to give everything ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

The latest meeting with Renee Sleger’s side sees a battle between first and seventh at the Etihad Stadium, with kick-off set for 16:30 (UK).

City come into the fixture as the only team to boast a 100% record with four wins from four. Arsenal, on the other hand, have one win, two draws and one defeat.

But clashes between the two highly rated sides are always closely contested, which was proved last season with a dramatic 3-2 triumph on home soil followed by a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates.

And the Swiss international believes she and her team-mates know we have what it takes to continue our outstanding run this weekend but admits we have a target on our back.

She said: “I think that this year, every team wants to beat us because we are the champions and we need to do even more than last year now to keep this position and also for the Arsenal game it’s going to be like a good fight because they also have a good team now but we also have a really good team.

“I scored last time my first goal against them but yeah I think it’s very different from last year now because both teams are different.

“I think we have the capacity to beat them and we also beat them at the Joie [Stadium]. So yeah, I think everything is possible.”

Beney sealed the three points at the Joie Stadium in October 2025 as she proved heroic with an 88th minute last gasp strike in the fifth game of our title-winning campaign.

As the clock ticked towards stoppage time a draw looked the most likely outcome, but like we saw against Liverpool this season, City’s never say die attitude sprung into action as Bunny Shaw teed up the starlet, who fizzed the ball low into the net.

The 20-year-old says that enthralling victory, which saw Shaw and Kerstin Casparij also hit the target, felt incredible as she scored her first goal for the Blues.

Speaking about the win and her contribution, she said: “I remember exactly the action because Bunny received the ball and in every training she told me, oh, I need like to support her to come, maybe she can play me the ball and when she received the ball, I just sprint to her and she played me the ball and then I just shot with my left foot and went in.

“So at this time, I didn’t know it was going to be like the winning goal for the game but then it was an amazing feeling.”
