We look back on five of our most memorable meetings with the Gunners ahead of our latest clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Andrée Jeglertz’s side face the north London outfit on Sunday 4 October, with kick-off set for 16:30 (UK), and there’s no doubt we will be hoping to continue the unbeaten Barclays Women’s Super League streak we’ve recorded so far this season.

City 3-2 Arsenal, 4 October 2025

City extended our winning streak to five straight matches after an enthralling 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Joie Stadium.

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw broke the deadlock in the first half with a bullet header which represented her fourth WSL league goal of the season.

Although Mariona Caldentey equalised soon after the interval, Kerstin Casparij restored our lead as she fired home inside the six-yard box.

However, Chloe Kelly’s unstoppable strike from range again levelled the scores and a draw looked likely before Iman Beney drilled home her first for the Club on the cusp of stoppage time. 

Arsenal 1-2 City, 6 February 2025

A dramatic 95th-minute Mary Fowler strike saw City reach the League Cup final after a 2-1 win at Arsenal.

The Blues took a deserved lead when Fowler found the top corner inside 26 minutes before Arsenal levelled from the spot through Mariona Caldentey in the second half.

A game where City twice hit the woodwork and had a penalty saved looked destined for extra time, but Fowler once again stepped up to fire home with virtually the last kick of the game.

Gareth Taylor’s side would then face Chelsea in March’s final at Pride Park.

Arsenal 2-2 City, 22 September 2024

City were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in our opening WSL fixture after an entertaining 2-2 draw away from home.

The hosts took an early lead through Frida Maanum’s close-range finish, but City responded through former Gunner Vivianne Miedema on the stroke of half-time.

A stunning Jess Park strike handed City the lead just before the hour mark, but the hosts earned a point when Beth Mead fired home late on.

Arsenal 0-1 City, 11 February 2024

We secured passage into the quarter-finals of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with a hard fought 1-0 victory.

In a battling cup encounter in the capital, Laia Aleixandri scored the only goal of the game with shy of 15 minutes remaining and extra-time looming. 

It represented our first win away at Arsenal in three attempts and booked our place in the last-eight of the competition.

City defeated the Reds 2-1 to leapfrog them into third in the WSL table.

Lauren Hemp opened the scoring with her 50th for the Club on four minutes after meeting a brilliant cross in from the right by Chloe Kelly at the back post.

Bunny Shaw had a couple of glorious chances to double our advantage, but she was met by a resolute Manuela Zinsberger in the Gunners goal.

Kelly then sent City in at the break two to the good as she fired home on 43 minutes after being played in by constant menace Shaw.

The visitors did halve the deficit through defender Rafaelle on 59 minutes after she nodded home an accurate header.

But City held on to ensure a fully deserved three points - and inflict only a second away defeat for the Gunners in their last 22 games.
