An evening which began with everyone at the Joie Stadium celebrating Lauren Hemp and her 200th City appearance, and ended with the England winger kickstarting celebrations in the stands.
Our number 11’s brace, alongside a Bunny Shaw strike and Grace Fisk own goal were enough to earn a gutsy win over the Reds.
It was a tough start to the evening for City, however, with Hemp’s opener cancelled out by two quickfire goals from the visitors.
Shaw’s finish from close-range ensured we went into the break level, and the second-half followed a similar pattern of Liverpool frustrating the WSL champions.
That was until a dangerous low cross from substitute Grace Clinton forced Grace Fisk to fire the ball into her own net.
And then Hemp doubled her tally for the match deep into stoppage time, as she sprinted through on goal from the halfway line before smashing past Khiara Keating.
