Manchester City’s Caroline Weir and Chloe Kelly have both been named in the 2019/20 PFA Women’s Super League (WSL) Team of the Year.

The duo were voted into the prestigious XI by their fellow professionals in recognition for their superb form last season and their inclusion means City have been represented in the annual all-star team in each of the last six seasons.

Weir enjoyed another fine campaign at the Academy Stadium as she once again highlighted why she is considered one of the top midfielders in the women’s game.

The Scotland international scored six times in 22 appearances in all competitions, which included her sensational long-range winner in the Manchester Derby at the Etihad Stadium.

It is the second time she has been voted into the PFA Team of the Year, having previously been named in 2016/17 whilst at Liverpool.

Summer signing Kelly earned her first inclusion following her impressive performances with Everton last season.

The 22-year-old boasted a remarkable goalscoring record with the Toffees as she evidenced why she is widely regarded as one of England’s brightest prospects.

Kelly hit the back of the net eight times in 12 league appearances before making her move to the Academy Stadium in July, showing her eye for the spectacular on more than one occasion.

Everyone at Manchester City is delighted for Caroline and Chloe and congratulates them on their inclusion in the Team of the Year.
