Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Iman Beney scored the goals in a dominant display as City completed our pre-season match programme with victory against our local rivals.
With the start of our Barclays Women’s Super League title defence now just a week away, Jeglertz was pleased with what he saw going forward.

Speaking after the game, the boss also outlined what will be the focus on the training pitch before next Sunday.
“Our attacking play was so fluid. We create chances in so many different ways, we have so many characters and different types of players,” he began.
“The relationship is already built and then Beth [Mead] came in, Aoba [Fujino] played the first half, Iman [Beney] in the second. We created a lot of chances and our attacking play was amazing.
“Defensively, I still think there’s a little more work to do. We need to be a little more synchronized in our defending, especially in our high press.
“We got a little bit played through in the first half and we need to nail that. When we defend lower, I think we are decent.”
Several senior members of Jeglertz’s side played the whole game, with fewer substitutions made than in previous games this summer.
As it was the final chance for match practice before the league gets going, the boss felt it was important to push those who will be heavily involved in the coming months.
“They are definitely ready,” he said.
“It’s one thing about being ready for Birmingham and one thing about being ready for the season. We have come quite far and we still have things to develop but it’s a long season.
“Not everything will be perfect against Birmingham but if we bring a lot of things, we will have a good chance to win from the start.”
The win rounded out a long period of preparation which has seen City take on some of the other major names in the European game.
“It’s good but it’s also a challenge,” said Jeglertz when asked about the importance of testing yourselves against high quality opposition.
“Pre-season is about building confidence but when you play Barcelona, Arsenal, Fiorentina and United, that’s a lot of challenges.
“I think it was the right decision and a good pre-season but we needed this win and to feel that this is the level we want to play.”
