Alex Greenwood has expressed her personal pride at Manchester City becoming the first WSL side to secure a commercial deal for its stadium naming rights.

As of the 2023/24 campaign, the Club’s home matches will now take place at the Joie Stadium, with the baby gear brand becoming our official Stadium Naming Partner in September.

Greenwood joined her City team-mates at the unveiling event, cutting a giant orange ribbon which had been wrapped around our home ground in preparation.

And the defender, speaking ahead of our first WSL home match of the season against Chelsea, has explained why the agreement feels like such a significant moment.

“I think it’s incredible to have the Joie Stadium as part of our club,” the England international explained.

“It shows the club’s ambition and what we want to do in women’s football.

“We want to keep pushing the game and I’m really proud of our club for doing that and to be a part of the moment.”

Gareth Taylor’s side went the entirety of the 2022/23 campaign without tasting defeat at the Joie Stadium, while our unbeaten home run in the WSL currently stands at an impressive 19 matches.

The visit of the reigning champions could prove our sternest test to date in front of a sellout crowd, though Greenwood and co. earned a deserved 2-0 victory in this fixture last time out.

Indeed, the England international is relishing the opportunity to step back out onto the pitch in a stadium which she relishes turning out at.

She said: “Playing at the Joie Stadium for me is home. I love being at home and with our fans.

“I get a sense of excitement when we walk over there.

“I look at the pitch and love it, it’s a place that not many teams like to come, and we like it that way.”
