The Elite Development Squad defender will represent the newly-promoted outfit for the 2026/27 season in what is the 18-year-old’s second loan spell.
The England youth international has been with City since Under-9s, and throughout every age group has showcased eye-catching passing, strong defensive attributes and also a desire to drive up the pitch when in possession.
Aged 15, Mfuni broke into City’s Under-18s squad in 2023/24. One of his standout moments saw the versatile left-footed centre-back score in City’s 4-0 2024 FA Youth Cup final triumph over Leeds United at the Etihad.
He made the instant step up to the EDS in 2024/25, helping City win the Premier League 2 title, and continued to represent Ben Wilkinson’s side for the first half of 2025/26.
Mfuni went on to make his senior debut for City and would later become the final Academy product to be handed their first set of senior minutes by Pep Guardiola who called time on his remarkable tenure at City at the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 18-year-old defender was a second half substitute in City’s 10-1 FA Cup win over Exeter City at the Etihad in January, just three weeks before his first loan switch.
Mfuni put pen to paper on a loan deal that saw him join Championship outfit Watford for the latter half of the campaign.
He went on to make eight Championship appearances before an injury saw his season end early. Â
Now he is ready to continue his development with yet more vital senior experience. Â
