After Erling Haaland headed us in front shortly after the hour mark, Jayden Bogle equalised for the Blades – the first goal we have conceded in the Premier League this season.
But Rodri’s thunderous strike late in the game, secured all three points and fired City to the top of the table.

Pep Guardiola’s side are the only team in the Premier League to have a 100% winning record after three games.
It’s the first time that we have won each of our opening three matches of a league season since Pep Guardiola’s debut campaign in charge in 2016/17.
We went onto win our first six games, which was our best-ever winning start although we finished the campaign in third place.
Chelsea won their first nine Premier League matches at the beginning of the 2005/06 season.
200 not out
Although he was missing from the touchline, it was still a landmark occasion for Guardiola as he brought up 200 league victories as a manager.
The City boss is the quickest in English top-flight history to reach a double century having done it from just 269 matches.
Guardiola has overtaken the previous record of Jose Mourinho who took 326 matches to bring up 200 victories in 2020.
Sir Alex Ferguson held the Premier League record of 322 games, with his stewardship beginning in the old First Division.
Haaland blunts Blades
Sheffield United looked like they might have discovered a way to stop Erling Haaland, but the striker keeps on producing chances and he found the net with his seventh attempt in the second half.
Not many clubs have been able to keep him out with the Norwegian scoring against 18 of the 21 clubs he has appeared against overall in the competition.
The only Premier League teams he has not scored against are Brentford and Liverpool, who has faced only once, and Chelsea where he was a late substitute in the 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland has scored nine goals in eight Premier League appearances against promoted clubs and is top of this season’s goalscoring charts along with Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi, Brighton’s Solly March and Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.
Jack in the box
No player in the match had more touches in the penalty area than Jack Grealish so it was no surprise that the dangerous winger claimed the assist for the crucial opener.
His 12 touches in the box were more than anyone else on the pitch and he created Haaland’s opener when he jinked to the byline and crossed perfectly to the back post.
Grealish created six chances in all, more than anyone else, and he was fouled four times, twice as much as Sheffield United’s players combined.
Rodrigo’s winning touch
After his brilliant late strike, City have now won each of their last 15 Premier League games in which Rodrigo has scored.
The Spaniard struck in the 3-0 victory over Burnley in the opening game and he has already matched his league goal tally from 36 appearances last season.
Of course it won’t be forgotten that he scored two goals in our successful run to the Champions League – a stunner against Bayern Munich and that winner against Inter in the final.
The only time City have not when he has scored was after his first Premier League goal in the 3-2 defeat to Norwich in September 2019.
