Sergio Aguero has backed Erling Haaland to smash a number of goalscoring records with City

Since joining the Club in the summer, the Norwegian has scored 24 goals in all competitions – with 18 coming in the Premier League.

By hitting the ground running in England, he’s already enhanced his skyrocketing reputation in world football.

Aguero certainly knows a thing or two about finding the back of the net, with the Argentine City’s record scorer with 260 goals.

And he believes the 22-year-old could surpass his total if he remains in sky blue for many years to come.

“I think that if he’s consistent, and if he sticks with City, anything is possible,” Aguero expressed.

“Hopefully that’s the case because it would mean City will achieve great new things.

“Look at the stats right now – he’s scored 18 Premier League goals in the first stage of the League so far, and the highest in a single season is 34. If he keeps at it, he’ll surely be able to clear this mark.”

“I think Haaland is maintaining form with his performance in other clubs – and that form is all about scoring.

“His stats are really remarkable. He’s kept his stride for City and there’s an additional merit to being able to do it in the Premier League, which is a whole different type of game. And on his first season as well!”

Across his 390 appearances for the Club, Aguero played alongside a number of lethal strikers – while also playing with world class talent on the international stage for Argentina.

Despite this, the 34-year-old has still been in awe of Haaland’s immense physical capabilities.

And he thinks the striker who arrived from Borussia Dortmund has taken City’s play to a new dimension.

Aguero added: “He combines a great athletic capacity with raw power – an unusual combination.

“And he never loses sight of the goalposts – some games, he barely gets the ball, but the few times he does, he scores.

“There’s also the fact that a team like City is well-suited to allow him to create many scoring opportunities for him.”
