And he’s just the seventh male player in world football to win a domestic league title, World Cup, continental title with his country, the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or.
The midfielder completed the remarkable feat after leading Spain to a 1-0 extra time win over Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final.
And to underline his importance to La Roja’s achievement, Rodri also won the Golden Ball for player of the tournament.
It’s the latest triumph of an astonishing career that has also seen him win 13 trophies in a City shirt.
Since moving to the Etihad Stadium in July 2019, he has won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups.
His greatest moment for the Club came in the 2023 Champions League final when he scored the winning goal in our 1-0 victory over Inter in Istanbul.
As well as winning the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with City the following year, Rodri then helped Spain to European Championship success – winning the Golden Ball for the tournament’s best player.
That led him to becoming City’s first player to win the Ballon d’Or, a deserved accolade for an incredible year.
Now adding a World Cup winner’s medal to his collection, the 30-year-old becomes the only footballer to ever the four biggest trophies for England-based players and the highest individual award available.
Ten other players have won the World Cup, Champions League and Ballon d’Or with Rodri become the 11th and first Spaniard to do so.
Germany legends Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Muller and France great Zinedine Zidane have also won a domestic league title and the European Championships.
Brazil’s Rivaldo and Ronaldinho and Argentina’s Lionel Messi have also won a domestic league title and the Copa America – the South American championship.
