Rayan Ait-Nouri says he’s keen to improve his goalscoring threat after netting in Wednesday’s pre-season win over K-League All Stars.

He latched on to Tijjani Reijnders’ low cross to curl home a right-footed effort just nine minutes into the 3-1 victory in Seoul.

It marked the Algerian’s first strike in a City shirt since his arrival last summer.

Asked whether he considers it important to find the net more often, Ait-Nouri was hopeful.

“I would like to,” he said.

“It was my first goal for City and it’s a part of the game I really enjoy. I have always tried to play in an attacking way, but I don’t score all the time.

“It’s a real sensation for me and I want to learn every day, work more and more to add as much to my game as I can.”

Wednesday’s victory was our first under Enzo Maresca in just his second pre-season game, following last week’s draw with Inter.

It was played in oppressive heat, with temperatures at kick-off in Seoul’s World Cup Stadium recorded at 36 degrees Celsius.

Despite the tough conditions, Ait-Nouri was pleased with the workout.

“To be honest, it was a tough game because the conditions were so different to Europe,” he said.

“The weather was very hot but it was a great experience to play in a famous stadium in front of our Korean fans.

“We won, which is the most important thing and all of us got more time on the pitch.”

We’ll close out our tour of Asia in the same stadium this Sunday against Atletico Madrid.

It’s a repeat of the final game of our 2023 tour of Asia, which is the last time we came up against Diego Simeone’s side.

With the possibility of facing the Spanish giants in the Champions League, Ait-Nouri knows games like before the competitive action begins can be very beneficial.

“It will be a different game than the last two games,” he said.

“We really enjoy playing this kind of game against one of the better teams in Europe, it will help us really prepare for next season.

“We know about Atletico’s level and it will be good to play them before we face Arsenal next week.”
