Raheem Sterling spoke of the positivity within the Manchester City squad after Pep Guardiola's side recorded our 13th win in a row, with a 2-0 victory over Burnley.

The City No.7 captained the league leaders at Turf Moor, netting our second goal of the evening after Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring two minutes in.

After the game, Sterling revealed how much Guardiola’s players are enjoying their football and paid tribute to the contribution of City’s defence, after keeping a sixth consecutive clean sheet to equal a club record.

“The more you win, the better you feel and that’s what we’ve done today,” he said.

“We knew exactly what they [Burnley] would bring to the game being physical, second balls and putting balls in the box, and I thought the boys at the back dealt with them really well.

“It’s good to get another win and keep another clean sheet. We’ve been on a good run and we need to continue that now.”

Victory over Burnley maintained the rich vein of form that saw City win a record-breaking nine games in the month of January, resulting in advancement in both the FA Cup and League Cup, as well as taking us to the top of the Premier League.

Sterling credits squad unity for our relentless run of wins and, with a tough game against defending champions Liverpool up next, he has called on his team-mates to head to Anfield with the same focus that has produced such positive results.

“It’s togetherness,” he added.

“You see how difficult it’s been for, not just us, but everyone. It’s about grinding results out and that’s what we’ve been doing.

“Going into that one [Liverpool game] it’s the same as today. We’ll try to keep our focus and go for the win.”
