Last time out

Manchester City began our Champions League campaign in style with a comprehensive 6-3 victory over RB Leipzig in Pep Guardiola‘s 300th match in the dugout.

A Nathan Ake header, Nordi Mukiele own goal and late Riyad Mahrez penalty cancelled out Christopher Nkunku’s strike to hand City a 3-1 advantage at the break.

Nkunku then reduced the arrears with a near-post header shortly after the restart, but Pep Guardiola‘s men hit back immediately when Jack Grealish curled in his first Champions League goal before the hour.

RB Leipzig’s no.18 then completed his hat-trick with an incisive low finish but, in a mirror image of his second strike, City restored our two-goal advantage soon after, this time courtesy of a Joao Cancelo thunderbolt.

An enthralling match under the Etihad Stadium lights was capped off by Gabriel Jesus adding a sixth from the bench, to cap off his 200th City appearance in the best possible fashion.

A deserved 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge means Pep Guardiola‘s men travel to the French capital second in the Premier League with a seven-match unbeaten run in tow.

In those seven matches in all competitions since defeat on the opening day of the season to Tottenham, City have kept five clean sheets and found the net on 24 occasions.

Our opponents sit top of the Ligue 1 having won each of their eight matches so far, boasting an 11-point gap on their nearest rivals after beating Montpellier 2-0 on Saturday 25 September.

Previous meeting

Our most recent meeting with Paris Saint-Germain came in our two-legged semi-final victory in last season’s Champions League.

Taking a 2-1 advantage back to an Etihad Stadium which had been hit by a hailstorm before kick-off, City picked up where we left off in the French capital with a deserved 2-0 victory.

Mahrez was back among the goals once again, finishing off a swift counter-attack early on, before tucking home Phil Foden‘s ball across the PSG box just after the hour to hand us an unassailable 4-1 aggregate lead.

Angel Di Maria was given his marching orders soon after for an off-the-ball stamp on Fernandinho, but City kept our composure to see out a memorable and deserved victory.
