Phil Foden has highlighted Jeremy Doku’s performance in the 4-1 victory over Aston Villa for special praise, calling it ‘frightening’.

Doku joined City this summer from Stade Rennais on a five-year deal and has made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals in his maiden 2023/24 campaign so far.

Our scintillating winger was on top form this midweek as he caused chaos on the right flank throughout the evening against the in-form Villans.

Foden was certainly impressed and thinks the only way is up for the blistering Belgian wide man.

“Very good,” said our hat-trick hero of Doku’s display.

“I thought he was frightening – he’s so dangerous one v one and helped us massively today to beat the full-back.

“He’s a fantastic talent and he’s only going to keep on getting better working under Pep as well.

“I’m delighted for him today – he performed really well.”

The three points kept us firmly in the hunt for a record-breaking fourth Premier League title in succession.

We now have eight top-flight games to come, starting with Crystal Palace on Saturday - as well as a two-leg Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid and FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea – and Foden says they all take on the importance of a ‘final’ as we look to secure more honours in 2023/24.

“You have to win every game and can’t afford to drop points now. Every single game is a final for us.

“There are so many games around the corner, and we have to keep going and think about the next one.

“We’ve got a very, very talented squad – everywhere you look and players on the bench coming on can make the difference.

“We’re going to need the full squad, give it our all and try our best.

“We have to keep fighting until the end.”
