Pep Guardiola has given an update on his squad ahead of the FA Cup fourth round clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night.

City have been on a short warm winter break in Abu Dhabi after a weekend off following the 3-2 victory over Newcastle on 13 January.

Ederson was forced off at St James’ Park after suffering a nasty gash in a collision while Erling Haaland, Manuel Akanji and John Stones also missed the game through injury.

The City goalkeeper has recovered from the knock ahead of the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 20:00 (UK) while Haaland and Stones are improving.

“He’s okay now,” Guardiola said about Ederson, although Stefan Ortega Moreno has started our most recent FA Cup clashes.

Haaland has not featured since the defeat to Aston Villa at the beginning of December after suffering a foot injury.

“He’s on the verge of coming back,” Guardiola added. “Tomorrow, still he is not ready but he is close.

“Some training sessions he has trained in the last two days. It’s not perfect so we wait a little bit more.”

Stones has also been out since being forced off in the win at Everton after Christmas while Akanji was injured in the third round FA Cup win over Huddersfield.

“Akanji is out and John has come back,” the boss said. “He will be [in contention for] team selection but he is back with us.”

City have already been boosted by the return of Kevin De Bruyne following his two substitute appearances against Huddersfield Town and at Newcastle, as he gets up to full speed following surgery on a hamstring injury in August.

Jack Grealish was also on the bench against Newcastle despite suffering from illness.

Meanwhile, Guardiola doesn’t expect any more new arrivals in the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old midfielder Claudio Echeverri has joined from River Plate and will remain in Argentina until next January.

“Congratulations to be part of our club,” Pep said. On potential signings before the transfer window, he added: “I don’t think so.”
