Pep Guardiola says John Stones could be available against Aston Villa – but thinks Kyle Walker, Ederson and Nathan Ake are unlikely to feature.

We take on the Villans on Wednesday, with a 20:15 (UK) kick-off at the Etihad.

Walker was forced off in the 1-0 England defeat to Brazil at Wembley in the international break and missed the Arsenal game.

Stones was a casualty in the next international game for the Three Lions, as he came off after just 10 minutes of the 2-2 draw with Belgium, Joe Gomez replacing the versatile defender.

He made the squad on Sunday but was an unused sub in the Etihad stalemate.

Ederson had to come off in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield following a clash with Darwin Nunez.

He returned to training on the eve of the Arsenal game but Guardiola said he wasn’t ready to face the Gunners and he looks like missing out again as we welcome Villa.

Ake hobbled off after 25 minutes of the first half in our 0-0 draw with Arsenal and was replaced by Rico Lewis.

On the potential availability of Stones, Walker and Ederson against Unai Emery’s men, the boss told the media in his pre-match press conference: “I don’t think so. John maybe, the other two no chance.

“He [John] has to feel fully fit. But the injury was less than we expected. We’ll see. For today or maybe for the next games he’ll be ready.”

Adding an update on Ake, he said: “Injured. Hopefully he will be back soon.

“I don’t know exactly the timing. For sure, the next games he won’t be ready.”
