Oscar Bobb was a half-time substitute in Sunday's meeting with Yokohama F. Marinos at a sold-out Japan National Stadium.

Born in Norway, Bobb joined the Club in July 2019 from Oslo-based Valarenga.

Now, he is looking to impress on our ongoing tour of Asia.

Pep Guardiola’s men face Yokohama F. Marinos and Bayern Munich in Japan, before concluding our trip with a friendly against Atletico Madrid in Seoul, South Korea.

All of the matches are available for UK viewers to watch live on CITY+ and Recast, providing fans with an opportunity to watch City in action for the first time since our 1-0 Champions League final victory over Inter.

20-year-old Bobb helped our Under-18s to successive league titles in his first two seasons at the Academy, before progressing to our Elite Development Squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

It’s a step up which has seen Bobb go from strength to strength.

He was an ever-present in our march to the Premier League 2 title that year, scoring seven times in the process before gaining valuable experience with the first team on our pre-season tour of the United States that summer.

That rapid trajectory has continued over the past 12 months, with Bobb providing a league-high 17 assists in 25 appearances, seeing him shortlisted for Premier League 2 Player of the Season.

While he would lose out on that award to team-mate Carlos Borges, the Norwegian was named EDS Player of the Year for a second successive campaign at our End of Season awards ceremony in May 2023.

Boasting incredible close control, vision and a deceptive turn of pace, the youngster is equally capable of unlocking a defence with an incisive pass or a mazy dribble – something he’s done on countless occasions during his time at the Club so far.

The Norwegian also possesses a tactical intelligence and maturity which belies his tender years, exemplified by him being called upon to play in midfield, out wide and as a central striker on occasion.

Whatever the role and the demands placed on him within that, Bobb has met every challenge head on and passed it with flying colours.

Having been provided with an opportunity by Pep Guardiola during our pre-season tour, the Norwegian will be hoping to repeat the trick once again.
