City sign teenage goalkeeper Joe Hart from Shrewsbury Town.

The promising shot-stopper had caught the eye with a string of impressive performances for the Shrews, gaining a good deal of valuable experience in League Two despite his youth.

Hart would go on to make 348 appearances across all competitions for City, keeping 127 clean sheets and playing a key role in our trophy successes, claiming four Golden Glove awards and two Premier League Team of the Year inclusions along the way.

2008

City complete the 2007/08 campaign with a friendly defeat to a South China Invitational XI on the Club’s post-season Asia Tour.

Dietmar Hamann opens the scoring on the quarter-hour but goals from Giovane Da Silva, Festus Baise and Liang Zicheng claim victory for the XI in Hong Kong.

Chairman Dr Thaksin Shinawatra donates City’s match fee to the China Earthquake Fund and City’s players wear black armbands with Sun Jihai captaining the team as a mark of respect.

2011

FA Cup winners City clinch third place in the Premier League and automatic qualification to the Champions League group stages with a 2-0 win at Bolton Wanderers on the final day.

Gareth Barry rattles the bar before Joleon Lescott opens the scoring with a header he knows very little about on the stroke of half-time.

Second half substitute Edin Dzeko adds a second late on to seal the win secure our highest top-flight finish for 34 years.

Former City Academy star Daniel Sturridge (on loan from Chelsea) is also sent off for the hosts for a late lunge on Dzeko.
