Recent signing Maximo Perrone says he is already revelling in life at Manchester City and revealed how he believes working under Pep Guardiola will only help him grow and develop as a player.

Despite only making the move to the Etihad from Argentine side Velez Sarsfield late last month, the exciting young midfielder has quickly settled into his new surroundings.

The 20-year-old was named on the bench for our recent Premier League trip to Tottenham and says he has received the warmest of welcomes from everyone at City.

With City boss Guardiola himself a former midfield pivot of the highest quality, Perrone says he couldn’t wish to learn from a better tutor as he adapts to life in England.

What’s more, he also believes City’s style of fluid, attacking, possession-based football is ideally suited to his game.

“Everything Pep says will help me. I’m here to grow and here I have the best possible help,” Perrone said.

“Yes, (City’s style of football) is the style of football I’ve always enjoyed.

“I define myself as a player who loves to have the ball, enjoys passing, and obviously I will get stuck in to recover the ball.

“I keep myself calm. I know I’m here to grow and that’s my goal.

“(Everyone has welcomed me) very well. I met a very good group of people, above all.

“I have to train. My goal is to train, give my best in every training session, and then things will come whenever they come.

“There’s no better place than this right now.”

Amongst those helping Perrone settle into both a new club and a new country is Argentine compatriot Julian Alvarez who made the identical move from South America to Manchester last summer.

Perrone says he is grateful to have been taken under the wing of our exciting young striker.

And Perrone also revealed how he had also been inspired by the distinguished lineage of former Argentine stars who prospered at City, including Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta and Carlos Tevez to name but a few.

What’s more, he has also adopted the number 32 shirt number famously worn by Tevez during his memorable time at the Etihad.

“I follow Julian everywhere. He’s a top guy and he’s helping me with everything,” Perrone revealed.

“(We have spoken) mostly about how things outside the pitch are.

“Where to live, the weather, and those sorts of things. We haven’t spoken much about football.

“I always tried to watch City because there were these (Argentine) players here.

“I like the number 32; I’ve always liked it.

“There are also a few personal reasons behind it too, but I also know that Carlos Tevez used this number.”
