Retiring hero Alex Williams is given pride of place on the front of today's City v Fulham edition of the matchday programme.

There’s a wonderful half-and-half cover design, with his face as both a player and an ambassador illustrated beautifully.

He’s being honoured at this afternoon’s game as he marks his retirement.

Alex was a pioneer for black footballers in England and a terrific goalkeeper on his way to the top before injury forced him to stop playing.

But rather than being deterred, he found another avenue to display his skills, instead inspiring and enriching the lives of so many in his role with City in the Community.

We hope you enjoy your retirement, Alex, you deserve it – and we hope you love this special pictorial tribute in our matchday publication.

There’s also a double page spread on Alex and he’s the subject of the ‘My Maine Memories’ feature, too, as he tells us the favourite game he played at our former home Maine Road, which is celebrating its 100 year anniversary this year.

Also within this issue, we spotlight our ‘Bahia in Manchester’ day today as City - and our sister club Bahia – host special celebrations at the Etihad around the game, including appearances from sky blue hero Elano and special guest Carlinhos Brown.

We have an interview with Josko Gvardiol, match reports on our Sheffield United and Newcastle United games, a look back at ‘How the Treble Was Won’, reviews of the Under-18s, EDS and Women’s teams while Rodrigo features in ‘The Lowdown’.

There’s the usual favourites too, like Pep Guardiola’s manager notes, the thoughts of Mike Summerbee in his ‘Buzzword’ column and the opposition spotlight to name a few.
