Nathan Ake says Oscar Bobb has caught the eye, due to his quality and humility.

Bobb set up Ake for a delightful diving header to make it 6-1 in the Etihad encounter with Bournemouth just three minutes after the young winger came off the bench.

Our Dutch defender was very happy to be teed up for his second goal of the season – and expressed his gratitude to Bobb for the assist.

“He’s such a good player – every time he has played this season, he’s been very good,” said Ake.

“He’s not shy at all in taking people on.

“It was a very good cross – I said thank you after.”

The Cherries clash was Bobb’s sixth senior appearance this season after being promoted to the first team set-up at the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

Ake believes the 20-year-old’s elevation has been seamless thanks to the welcoming environment at the CFA.

But he also credited the academy graduate’s unassuming personality as a key factor, too.

“We’ve got an easy group to settle into. It’s also about them [young players coming in] – how humble he is, he wants to keep learning every day – even if things go well, he doesn’t change, he’s still the same.

“He’s working hard every day. You can see every time he comes on, he wants to take the opportunity.

“I’ve been very impressed with him.”
