City go into the festive period three points clear at the top of the table following our 4-0 triumph at Newcastle United, whilst the Foxes head to the Etihad Stadium after a two week break due to COVID-19 postponements.
They too won 4-0 against Newcastle on their last outing, but their results have been mixed this season and, whilst Lescott admits there have been encouraging signs from their recent performances, he has no doubt that a City side at its best will be too strong for the visitors.
“I think they are just starting to pick up better performances,” he said.
“I think they have been inconsistent with their performances and their results have been evident of that.
“If we play how we can, we win the game. It’s as simple as that, regardless of how they turn up and who plays well for them.
“If we maximise our game plan, then we’ll win.”
Former City and Leicester striker, Paul Dickov, agrees.
As many as eight players were reported as ill ahead of the Foxes postponed games against Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, whilst Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu have both been carrying injuries.
Wesley Fofana is a long-term absentee and James Justin is yet play this season, despite being close to a return from an ACL injury.
It has been a difficult period for Brendan Rodgers’ men, but Dickov believes that, given our recent form, City will be too strong regardless of the side the Leicester boss is able to name.
“Any game we go into I expect to win,” Dickov added.
“Leicester have been struggling with COVID-19 and a lot of injuries as well. I know they beat Newcastle 4-0, but the results haven’t been great.
“They are missing a lot of players and the form we are in, regardless of who plays, has got to be scary for anybody, especially coming to the Etihad.”
