Who makes the cut in Joleon Lescott's combined Manchester City and Liverpool all-time XI ahead of Sunday’s Anfield clash?

The former City defender will be a special guest alongside David James on this weekend’s Matchday Live show, which gets underway one hour before kick-off.

It’s a battle for top spot between the two most recent sides to lift the Premier League trophy when Pep Guardiola’s men travel to Merseyside this weekend.

Our dominant 4-1 triumph in last season’s fixture, which brought an 18-year wait for victory at Anfield to an emphatic end, means City currently hold the bragging rights between the two sides.

However, we’ll need to be at our very best once again to come away with victory this weekend.

The Reds currently sit one point and one place above City in the Premier League and are yet to taste defeat this season.

As always, we’ll have comprehensive coverage of Sunday’s showdown here on mancity.com and the Official Man City App, including plenty of pre-match insight from Lescott and James on Matchday Live.

And in the build-up to what promises to be a thrilling clash, we asked Sunday’s special guests to pick their all-time combined XI between two of English football’s big hitters.

In a City-dominant side, Lescott has opted for six of his former teammates from his time at the Etihad Stadium, while three Liverpool players make the XI.

Four-time Premier League Golden Glove winner Joe Hart starts between the sticks, shielded by a back four of Kyle Walker, Vincent Kompany, Virgil Van Dijk and Gael Clichy.

Yaya Toure and David Silva, two of the cornerstones of City’s rise to the top of English football, start in midfield alongside former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.

At the sharp end, Raheem Sterling makes the cut on the left flank with Reds winger Mohamed Salah on the right, while City’s leading marksman Sergio Aguero plays through the middle.

Lescott will explain his decisions in greater detail ahead of kick-off on Sunday, with Matchday Live available to watch from 15:30pm (UK) on all digital platforms.

Stay tuned to mancity.com and the official Man City App on Sunday to discover who has made the cut in David James’ combined XI.
