Maresca was installed as Blues boss this summer after the exit of Pep Guardiola following 10 years and 20 trophies.
The Italian arrives in Manchester after impressing at Leicester and Chelsea, guiding the Foxes back to the Premier League as champions and the Londoners to success in the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.
Before that, Maresca had two spells at City, first as EDS manager where his team captured the PL2 title in swashbuckling style and as First Team assistant head coach for our never-to-be-forgotten Treble campaign.
So the 46-year-old is very well acquainted with the Club and says the drive and direction of the hierarchy of Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, CEO Ferran Soriano and Sporting Director Hugo Viana make it the most appetising post on the planet.

“Absolutely yes,” Maresca stressed when asked if the City role was the best in football.
“It’s a fantastic job, it’s nice and exciting and for me, it is a privilege.
“First of all, the most important thing for me has been that Khaldoon, Hugo and Ferran all speak the same language in terms of, for sure this is a club that has to win games, titles and has to compete, but we also talk about how we can continue to make this club better, season after season.
“This for me from my point of view is very important when all the people speak the same language, it’s very important.
“I was very convinced since day one and the reason why is because I know people inside the organisation and I know how serious they are.
“Again, this is a club that has to win but we have to get better season after season.”
Maresca isn’t the only new arrival at the CFA this summer after being joined by his team of backroom staff.
A familiar face that will resonate most with Blues fans is Willy Caballero.
He returns to City where he made 48 appearances as a goalkeeper with his penalty shootout heroics helping us to the 2013/14 League Cup trophy.
The Argentinian is also a former team-mate of Maresca when they were together at Malaga in Spain under ex-City boss Manuel Pellegrini.
“He is very important,” added Maresca.
“He has been a top player for 20 years, so he knows how the players they think in which moment they need more words, which moment they need less words and when they need a hug.
“So, he knows exactly how to behave with the players.”
