Paul Dickov is expecting Brentford to provide a ‘tough’ test for City in our final Premier League assignment of 2022/23.

Pep Guardiola’s side travel to the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 28 May buoyed by already being crowned Premier League champions – representing our third title in succession.

Despite already wrapping up the league ahead of our trip to the capital, City will certainly want to end our immense league campaign on a high note ahead of two crucial finals.

First up is the FA Cup showpiece event with Manchester United at Wembley on June 3, before a monumental UEFA Champions League final with Inter on June 10.

And, speaking on our Matchday Live broadcast for our 1-1 draw with Brighton, Dickov is hoping City come away from London unscathed as we aim to complete a historic treble.

“[I’m hoping to see] no injuries. I would like to see a good performance and a good win,” he said.

“They’ll be up for it. It’s a difficult place to go and they beat us at the Etihad [earlier in the season] and deserved it at the time.

“It’s going to be a tough, tough game. [Hopefully] we’ll get through Sunday with a clean bill of health and move towards the two finals.”

The Bees have enjoyed a strong Premier League campaign which sees them sat comfortably in eighth place in their second season back in the top flight.

There is, however, the chance for Thomas Frank’s side to qualify for European football next season if they claim three points over City and Tottenham (away to Leeds) and Aston Villa (at home to Brighton) drop points.

As a result, Dickov believes Brentford will be fully committed to the cause of winning on Sunday.

He added: “It will be difficult going to Brentford who have an outside chance of qualifying for the UEFA Conference League.

“They are [going to give City a good game], they’re a good team.

“They’re super well organised and work ever so hard. Toney’s unavailable but Mbuemo has been scoring goals of recent as well.

“They’re an all-round solid team who are really difficult to play against, especially at home, so it’s going to be tough for us on Sunday.”
