We face Fluminense at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday 22 December, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 (UK).

Pep Guardiola has made three changes to his starting lineup for this evening’s FIFA Club World Cup final against Fluminense at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

Pep: ‘City are ready for the FIFA Club World Cup final’
Ruben Dias, Rico Lewis and Julian Alvarez come into the side, with Manuel Akanji, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes, who all started the semi-final victory over Urawa Red Diamonds, moving to the bench.

Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku remain sidelined through injury.

City starting XI: Ederson, Walker (C), Stones, Dias, Ake, Rodrigo, Lewis, Bernardo, Foden, Grealish, Alvarez

MATCH FORMAT

If the score is level after the 90 minutes, there will be 30 minutes of extra-time, split into 15-minute halves.

If there is still no winner after extra time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout. 

PREVIOUS MEETING

This Friday’s clash represents our first against the Brazilian side.

However, we do share some familiar faces with them, namely in the form of youngster Kayky, who we signed from Fluminense in 2021.

LAST TIME OUT

In a highly entertaining semi-final at the King Abdullah Sports City, an own goal from Marius Hoibraten and fine strikes from Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva secured City’s safe passage through to the Club World Cup final in our first ever appearance at the tournament.

As for Fluminense, second half goals from Jhon Arias and John Kennedy secured their victory over Al Ahly of Egypt to reach the final.
