Jeremy Doku's goal and four assists in Saturday's 6-1 defeat of Bournemouth made him the youngest player in Premier League history to have five goal involvements in one game.

The Belgian winger scored the opener before setting up Bernardo Silva twice, sliding Phil Foden in and seeing a shot deflect off Manuel Akanji for a fourth assist.

City 6-1 Bournemouth | Match report

At the age of 21 years and 161 days, that makes him the youngest player in Premier League history with five goal involvements in a single game, as well as the youngest player to assist four goals in a single game.

It is only the eighth occasion of a player contributing four assists in a single Premier League game and the first time a City player has done so.

It came as part of an electric team performance on the whole, with 21 shots and 667 passes in total.

Bournemouth’s last ditch defending was perhaps best demonstrated by the 12 corners they conceded.

The win also extends the most one-sided relationship in Premier League history, with City winning all 13 of the meetings between us and Bournemouth.

Doku’s day in detail

Doku had 55 touches in total.

As you can see from the below graphic, most of those came down the left channel in direct opposition to Max Aarons, who he ran rings around throughout the game.

In fact, he completed all four of his dribbles, played two of two accurate long balls, won six of seven ground duels and created five chances in total.

With just 55 touches across the match, it shows the positivity of the player that he was able to contribute so much.

Every time he gets the ball, he wants to beat his man or set up a team-mate.

And the below graphic shows that the formation allowed him to do this in the most dangerous areas where he could hurt Bournemouth the most.

22 home wins

The last time City failed to win at the Etihad Stadium was 31 December 2022.

Since then we’ve played 22 games at our home across all competitions and won every single one of them.

That’s the best run in English top-flight football since 1892.

Sunderland’s run of 24 successive wins that year is now the only chain longer than ours.

In that time we’ve scored 73 goals at the Etihad and conceded just 11.

Our relentless pursuit of excellence at home proved to be the backbone of last season’s historic Treble and will continue to be vital if we’re to lift more silverware this season.

Goal glut

City have scored at least six goals in a game on 12 occasions under Pep Guardiola in the Premier League, with only Alex Ferguson (14) and Arsène Wenger (13) now ahead in that metric.

Manchester City have had at least a three goal lead at half-time in 28 games in the Premier League since Pep Guardiola took charge, almost twice as many times as any other side during this period (Tottenham, 15).

Premier League stats so far this season

Erling Haaland went without a goal but he remains the league’s leading scorer with 11.

Jeremy Doku‘s four assists this weekend has moved him to five in total and up to third in the Premier League ranking behind Kieran Trippier and Pedro Neto.

Ederson will be frustrated not to have added to his clean sheets. He remains in the group on four, one behind the leaders.

Unsurprisingly, our 7,189 passes is far more than anyone else in the league has managed while our 183 shots is also the most.
