Andy Morrison believes City’s 2-1 win over Luton on Sunday afternoon will prove to be a pivotal point in the season for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The former Club captain was in attendance at Kenilworth Road and featured on Matchday Live from Hertfordshire alongside ex-teammates Paul Dickov, Nicky Weaver, Shaun Goater and Gareth Taylor – all of whom played the last time we faced the Hatters at their home ground in 1999.

On this occasion, goals from Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish saw us come from a goal down to return to winning ways in the league.

Following full-time, Morrison was full of praise for the England international and his match-winning goal and detailed the importance of the win over Rob Edwards’ side.

“We’ve been asking for more goals from Jack, we know what he brings to the team and it was a tremendous second half,” said Morrison.

“The blow right on 47 minutes to go 1-0 down, to show the character second half, tremendous.

“It’s a big moment for me in the season.”

Following wins for Liverpool and Aston Villa, three points for City were vital in keeping us in touching distance of them and second-placed Arsenal.

Bernardo’s equaliser in the 62nd minute cancelled out Elijah Adebayo’s added time goal at the brink of half-time before Jack Grealish’s left-footed strike sealed all three points away from home.

And to add to Morrison’s assessment, Dickov also felt that the win was important as it will help City keep momentum and confidence heading into our home clash with Crystal Palace before travelling to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup.

“As long as we are in touching distance, whether it be at the top, sat second or third going into January with John Stones getting more games under his belt, Kevin De Bruyne to come back and have a fully fit squad, I’m completely comfortable with it,” said Dickov.

“A great win today, a tough win and if we can top it off against Palace going into the Club World Cup it will be a great couple of weeks!”
