The 22-year-old, who has signed a five-year deal, has arrived at the Etihad armed with the reputation for being one of the most promising young prospects to have emerged from Brazil in recent years.
The most recent incumbent of the shirt was Brazilian compatriot Kayky who wore it in the 2021/22 campaign.
Prior to that, Gunnar Nielsen, Shay Given, Kelvin Etuhu, Paul Dickov, Terry Dunfield and Robert Taylor had also worn the number when representing City.
