The Daily Star is among the aforementioned as they write: “Chelsea are reportedly set to miss out on Real Madrid ace Danilo to Manchester City.
“The Brazil international joined the La Liga giants from Porto in a £27.9m (€31.5m) deal two years ago.
“Despite that hefty price tag he’s struggled to make his mark at the Bernabeu and has often played second fiddle to Dani Carvajal.
“Danilo has been tipped to leave Champions League winners Real this summer, with Chelsea and Juventus expected to fight it out for him.
“However, reports in Italy suggest Pep Guardiola is poised to take the 26-year-old to the Etihad as he continues his overhaul of City’s defence.”
Our daily dose of the story that isn’t going anywhere by the looks of things continues with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger saying Alexis Sanchez will not be allowed to leave the club this summer.
The Gunners must be understandably frustrated by the conveyor belt of rumours and whispers in the press and Wenger has done his utmost to put the speculation to bed once and for all.
Football London report: “Arsenal are adamant Sanchez will not be sold, however, with Arsene Wenger reiterating that stance during a press conference in China on Tuesday.
‘The decision has been made and we will stick to that,’ he said. ‘The decision is not to sell.’
“But reports in the north west suggest Wenger’s statement will not worry those behind the scenes at the City - with Guardiola happy to remain patient in his pursuit of the Gunners’ star man.
“The Manchester Evening News claim the Blues are willing to play the ‘waiting game’ for Sanchez - who they believe will continue to push for a move to Etihad.”
Finally today, Joe Hart joined West Ham yesterday on a season-long loan deal.
The England keeper said (as carried by The Telegraph): ‘I’ve always loved the club. I think you’ll struggle to find anyone, apart from the direct opposing fans around London, who doesn’t love the club. It’s got something about it, it’s got a lot history and I’ve always loved playing against West Ham.
‘We’ve moved into London Stadium and we’ve got Slaven in charge who I’ve spoken to and I’ve always enjoyed as a manager.
‘He obviously did a good job with Croatia and he’s doing a good job here.’
However, Joe added on his Instagram page: ‘I would like to wish Manchester City good luck for the season but I would especially like to thank the Man City supporters. Your continued and loyal support means the world to me and my feelings towards you guys will never ever change.’
Joe and Zaba could both feature in the friendly between City and the Hammers in Iceland next month.
