The nomination comes as no surprise with the strike already touted as Goal of the Season. It was a finish of the highest quality, as the midfield maestro chested the ball down on the edge of the box before arrowing an unstoppable effort in off the crossbar to restore City’s lead at St James’ Park.

De Bruyne faces still competition with Tammy Abraham, Harry Wilson (two nominations), Ruben Neves, Fabinho, Joao Moutinho and Jonjo Shelvey also included.

Voting is open to the public from 1pm on Friday 6 December until 6pm on Monday 9 December, with the winner set to be announced on Friday 13 December.

To vote, visit the Premier League’s official website.

Good luck, KDB!
