Aleksandar Kolarov believes that atmosphere could play a part in Man City’s UEFA Champions League game against Celtic.

City face the Scottish champions in a competitive game for the first time on Wednesday night and the Serbian defender has also warned against focusing solely on the free-scoring Moussa Dembele.

The Hoops’ summer acquisition is in double figures for the season already but Aleks believes that Brendan Rodgers’ side have a number of players who could hurt them if allowed, including City loanee, Patrick Roberts.

Kolarov told journalists: “They are going to play with a lot of intensity and try to win the game. I saw the Barcelona game but it was strange.

“They are playing at home with amazing fans so we know what they are going to try to do tomorrow.

“Kolo [Toure] is an experienced player. Scott [Sinclair] didn’t play a lot at City but he is a great player. Patrick [Roberts] is a young guy and I know him as well. They are dominating here in Scotland.”

City have been similarly dominant in England but Kolarov has urged that the team is just taking it one game at a time.

He also revealed that no-one in the dressing room is talking about records or milestones – just the most immediate task in front of them.

“At the moment everything is going well,” Aleks said.

“We start well, we are playing in a good way and we’re happy about what is happening on the pitch. At the moment we are trying to improve so we will see at the end of the season what we achieve.

We just have to stay focused and try to improve.

Kolarov’s positional shift to centre back in some games this season has been one of the most unexpected moves from Pep Guardiola in his first ten games in charge.

He admits that he’s relishing the opportunity to play in this new position as it enables him to be more involved in the game.

Aleks added: “I didn’t think I was going to change position but Pep came here and changed me. I like it, I am enjoying being involved in the play but the season is very long.”
