Jordy Hiwula didn’t take long to make an impression on his debut for Walsall.

The City EDS striker came on as a substitute and scored four minutes into his first appearance for the Saddlers at the Keepmoat Stadium in their 2-0 win over Doncaster.

“I wanted to get off the mark as quickly as possible, so to score four minutes after coming on was great for me,” the 20-year old told the official Walsall website.

“I made a run in front of the defender and the cross was just right for me to head home.

“I only arrived on Thursday but the lads have really welcomed me into the group and I am delighted that I was able to play my part in the win.

“I learned a lot during my loan spell at Yeovil earlier in the season and I can really benefit from that experience here.”

Another young loan star on the scoresheet at the weekend was Marcos Lopes.

The 19-year old scored the winning goal for Lille OSC in their 2-1 Ligue 1 victory over Montpellier, ending a run of four games without a win for his side.

City’s youngest-ever goalscorer found the back of the net in the 53rd minute with a finish from close range.

That result moves his loan club up to 11th in the French standings.

Elsewhere, Jason Denayer and John Guidetti’s Celtic stayed top of the Scottish Premier League with a 2-0 away win at Hamilton Academical.

Denayer played all 90 minutes for the Bhoys, while Guidetti was an unused substitute.

Micah Richards stayed on the bench throughout Fiorentina’s 3-2 win over Atalanta.

In the Netherlands, Karim Rekik’s PSV won again to stretch their lead at the top of the Eredivisie to 12 points.

Rekik played all 90 minutes in their 3-1 triumph over Utrecht at the Philips Stadion.

In the same league, Sinan Bytyqi came on as a substitute in the 61st minute for Cambuur but he couldn’t prevent his side from going down to a 2-1 away defeat to Feyenoord.

Alvaro Negredo was also introduced as a second half substitute in Valencia’s 2-1 win over Espanyol in Barcelona.

The striker was booked in stoppage time as Los Che stayed in the final UEFA Champions League qualifying spot with that win.

Also in La Liga, Bruno Zuculini made his Cordoba debut as a 64th minute substitute but his side stayed third from bottom in the table after a damaging 2-1 home defeat to Almeria.

Closer to home, Greg Leigh’s Crewe Alexandra enjoyed a winning weekend, overcoming Colchester United 3-2 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The City left-back played all 90 minutes in a victory which moves the Alex up into 19th place in the League One standings.

Seko Fofana played the full game for Fulham in their 1-1 home draw with Birmingham, while Devante Cole only came on in the 89th minute of MK Dons’ 0-0 stalemate with Bristol City.

George Evans was introduced in the 68th minute of Scunthorpe’s 1-0 defeat to Oldham at Glanford Park.
