Simon Davies believes midfielder Aleix Garcia has a big future at Manchester City.

Garcia, a deep-lying midfielder possessing a superb range of passing, has made five appearances for Pep Guardiola’s first team this season and has great potential.

He starred for the EDS on Sunday despite the 1-0 defeat to Everton, producing a performance that showcased the artistry and industry he is capable of bringing to the No. 6 role.

Davies says he is a huge talent and insists the Club’s technical staff are doing everything they can to polish and prepare him for regular first-team football.

“Technically he’s very, very good,” Davies said. “The one thing he knows and we keep working on, in the first-team environment and the EDS, is his reading of the game and moving into positions slightly quicker than others would have to... he’ll be fine with that. He’ll keep progressing nicely. He’s a really great talent for this football club.”

Indeed, goalkeeper Billy O’Brien shares Davies’ view – and says Garcia’s ability to switch the play makes him a huge asset to any side.

“He’s a brilliant player,” O’Brien said. “That’s why he’s with the first team now. He’s the same every time he steps on the field. He’s got great passing ability – he could ping it from one corner to the other corner if he wanted to!

“He’s exactly the sort of player you want in your team because he’s comfortable receiving the ball in any position. He’s a great player.”
