City’s Under-18s secured a vital win against Leeds United in a 11-goal thriller which saw us go six points clear at the top of the U18 Premier League North.

City had to fight back twice in the game through goals from Will Dickson and Josh Adam, before Jadel Katongo got us the lead for the first time in the game to end the scoring in the first half.

We did suffer a scare as Leeds equalised to put the game square once again, but Dickson and Adam grabbed their braces in the second half.

Further goals from Luca Barrington, Adedire Mebude and Nico O’Reilly secured a comfortable and important victory for us.

WHAT HAPPENED

After Tuesday’s crucial win against fellow title challengers Blackburn, we went into the game sitting top of the table and on the hunt for another three points to stretch our winning streak in the league.

The hosts made a fast start to the game which caught us out, as Leeds midfielder, Keenan Carole, opened the scoring in the first minute, but we showed a fighting spirit, as Dickson equalised for City.

Charlie Allen struck to put Leeds back in front before we battled back again and Josh Adam pulled us square in the game once more.

We started to take more control of the game and the pressure paid off through Katongo from a Joel Ndala corner which proved to be the final goal of an entertaining first half.

Following the restart, City did well to keep the ball and threaten the Leeds goal, but it was Joseph Richards who equalised for the hosts to peg us back and see us level for the third time in the match.

Ben Wilkinson brought on Luca Barrington on the hour mark, which proved to be an inspired move as Barrington gave us the lead again.

City then turned up the heat in the final 10 minutes of the game, scoring four goals.

Dickson, Adam added to their first half goals with Medube and O’Reilly further adding to the scoreline which sealed the deal for City in what proved to be a frantic affair.

HOW WE LINED UP

We went with a 4-3-3 formation for this game. Josh McNamara continued in goal, with a back four of Tom Galvez, Jadel Katongo, Isaac Smith and Rico Lewis shielding him.

Mo Susoho protected the defence with Nico O’Reilly and Josh Adam playing ahead of him in the engine room.

Will Dickson played as a sole striker with Joel Ndala and Dire Mebude taking their positions on the flanks.

WHAT IT MEANS

With Blackburn losing 3-1 to Sunderland, Ben Wilkinson’s side go six points clear at the top of the Under-18 Premier League North, but the Lancashire side do still have a game in hand over us.
