Oliver masterclass helps City hit Everton for six

Oliver returned to his clinical goal-scoring ways as he opened the scoring from the spot after just three minutes. 

31 minutes later he would find the net once again to enter double figures for the season after rounding Teddy Wilcox and side-footing home. 

Timeo Whisker soon added his name to the scoresheet after great work from Will Gueke who was driving forward before Oliver completed his third hat-trick of the season.

The number nine continued his fine form into the second half as he fired home directly from a corner to help himself to four goals for the second time this season.

Whisker then rounded off what was a superb 90 minutes as he netted a brace to protect our unbeaten streak so far in the 2026/27 campaign.

What happened

With a 100% record to maintain, Lauris Coggin’s side travelled to Finch Farm ready and raring to secure another three points on the board. 

The rain hammered down, but it didn’t deter the City youngsters who found an early breakthrough as Oliver converted from the penalty spot.

The number nine looks to be growing in confidence every game with our Under-18s as the goal marked his ninth of the season so far with only six games played!

And it’s performances like today that earnt him a well deserved debut with our Elite Development Squad in mid-week, as he came on as a substitute when we faced Chesterfield in the EFL Trophy. 

As always with our Academy games, the clash with the Toffees marked another lively affair as Oliver found the second. 

Gueke was the architect, showing great bite in midfield to drive forward with force before playing a through ball to the 17-year-old. 

The goals just kept coming from there, City showed great composure as Whisker netted moments later after more brilliant work from Gueke, yet again, before Oliver recorded his third hat-trick of the campaign so far. 

We continued to dominate in the second 45 as Oliver immediately fired straight in from a corner - which marked his second four goal haul in a single game this term after firing home a quadruple against Leeds.

Despite the game’s intensity subsiding for the rest of the half, Coggin’s side stayed cool, calm and collected as we continued to press the Everton back-line. 

City continued to leave the hosts breathless, while Whisker showed great skill in front of goal to secure a brace and round off Everton’s heaviest defeat of the season.
