It was mixed fortunes for our EDS and Under-18 sides across the 2023/24 season – but our photographers were there every step of the way along the journey of both teams.

And they’ve put together a selection of snaps from across the campaign.

Our Under-18s enjoyed glory in the FA Youth Cup, City winning the competition for the fourth time in our history.

After successes in 1986, 2008 and 2020, our Class of 2024, led by boss Ben Wilkinson, saw off Leeds United 4-0 in the showpiece final at the Etihad.

Goals from Justin Oboavwoduo, Jaden Heskey, Stephen Mfuni and Matty Warhurst secured the Cup – widely acknowledged as the pinnacle of youth football.

We defeated Watford away 2-0 in the third round, West Ham away 2-0 in the fourth round, Reading 2-1 at home in the fifth round, Tottenham 2-1 at home in the quarter-finals before seeing off the Robins to make it through to the final.

That was the highlight for our younger age groups across this past season, with the Under-18s finishing second to neighbours Manchester United in the league while for Brian Barry-Murphy’s EDS side, it was a season where lessons will have been learned on the pitch.

After three PL2 titles in succession for City, Barry-Murphy went into the 2023/24 campaign with a younger blend of player and they will have matured rapidly after finishing 23rd in a newly-calibrated league format containing 26 teams, with the top 16 clubs going through to the play-offs.
