Bonanno will enter his fourth season competing for the Club, with Jafonso ready to wear the City shirt for a second successive campaign.
The duo helped City extend our title triumphs, making us the most successful Premier League club in EA SPORTS FC history.
We fought off Leeds in the 2025/26 ePremier League Finals to see us lift the coveted trophy for a third consecutive campaign.
They’ve also represented City at the FC World Championships and eChampions League, showcasing incredible talent on the biggest stages in the world.
To mark the occasion of two of the best pro players in the world committing their futures to City, we take a look at what makes their Manchester City journeys so special…
MATI’S CITY JOURNEY SO FAR
Bonanno is the most joint decorated ePremier League player in history.
The Argentine joined City in 2023 as one of the most exciting young players in the scene and brought league-winning experience after just lifting the 2023 eLaLiga.
He carried his hunger for success into the English scene, dominating the 2023/24 ePremier League before being crowned champions alongside former Blue, Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt.
After becoming the first club to win two ePrem titles, Bonanno, and Tekkz, became the first players to retain the title in 2024/25.
And in 2025/26, alongside new partner Jafonso, Bonanno helped City break new ground as we were named English champions for a third successive term, a feat no other club has achieved.
To complete the most recent campaign, Bonanno topped the FC Pro 2026 World Championship Group Stage before going on to place third in the competition which sees the best pros from around the world compete.
Now, he’s ready to compete for the Club for another year.
“I am so excited to represent City, alongside Jafonso, for another season,” said Bonanno.
“Each year is more special and I feel I still have so much more to give, so much more to achieve, and City is the best place for me to do that.
“We want to keep retaining the ePremier League and hopefully this season, my goal is to bring other trophies to the Club.”
JOAO’S CITY JOURNEY SO FAR
Jafonso’s journey has been a little shorter than Bonanno’s but it has certainly been a fruitful one.
After signing for City in the summer of 2025, Jafonso impressed on the ePremier League stage as he helped us retain the prestigious title.
In doing so, he became the first Portuguese to lift the trophy in what was a special moment for him as he dedicated the win to his late friend and mentor, Diogo Jota.
In the eChampions League, Jafonso progressed to the Knockout round Play-Offs before exiting the competition.
And in the FC Pro 2026 World Championship, Jafonso narrowly missed out on the Knockout Stage.
After putting pen to paper on his new contract, Jafonso is determined to bring further success to City for another season.
“I am honoured to be part of City’s roster for another season and playing next to Mati as we look to defend our ePremier League title,” said Jafonso.
“Last season had lots of ups and downs for me, but I have been working hard so this season will be my best one.
“And I can’t wait to work with everyone at the Club to win more silverware.”
