Emma Coates’ age group have been in fine form, going unbeaten in their most recent fixtures - a 1-1 draw to Norway before beating Belgium 3-0 on home soil – with the latter victory in front of a record crowd for the Under-23s.
City stars Ruby Mace and Khiara Keating were selected to represent the young Lionesses in their September fixtures and will be hopeful of receiving another international call-up to the Under-23s.
They both got to experience a new competition format, the European League, which will see Coates’ side compete against Belgium, France, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden throughout the international calendar.
The Under-23s will begin their October camp with a match against Italy on Thursday 26 October, with the venue and kick-off time still to be confirmed, before we welcome England and Portugal to Manchester.
The Joie Stadium is used to welcoming international football, having hosted all three of Portugal Women’s senior fixtures during the 2022 Euros.
