Delivered by City in the Community coaches, the programme brought together participants of all ages and abilities, creating opportunities to develop football skills, build confidence and enjoy the game in inclusive and supportive environments.
The week began with a girls’ football session delivered in partnership with WISE (Women in Sports Empowered), which works to address barriers that can prevent teenage girls from continuing to participate in sport during their secondary school years. Participants took part in reaction-based warm-up activities before progressing into high-level ball mastery and passing exercises.
Players were challenged through opposed practices designed to develop both technical ability and tactical understanding before rounding off the day with a small-sided tournament and a special trophy photograph.
At The Hub, participants of varying ages and abilities enjoyed a fun-filled session focused on teamwork, speed and coordination. The Hub supports children facing challenging circumstances, helping them to develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive within their communities. Relay races, technical practices and small-sided games formed the core of the event, with Manchester City legend Scott Carson joining activities throughout the day to support participants and enhance the experience.
An inclusive session with Love 21 followed, bringing together members of the Down syndrome and autistic communities. Participants developed hand-eye and foot-eye coordination through a range of adapted football activities, including target shooting, dribbling challenges and goalkeeper exercises, before finishing with relay races that reinforced the skills learned throughout the session.
Across the week, hundreds of participants experienced the power of football to bring people together, create positive connections and inspire healthier lifestyles.
