Let’s be honest – and we’re not bragging here – but there have been many contenders for the #City30 category of ‘achievement’.
The Fourmidables, the Centurions, back-to-back Premier League titles, trophy after trophy…
As always, we put the question to you, our fans, and go with the general consensus and while all those achievements were more than worthy, it is refreshing that today’s winner is in fact none of those spine-tingling moments.
Instead, the vote was for an historic moment for Manchester City Women and the first major trophy secured back in 2014.
The new look club had replaced Manchester City Ladies and also won a place in the FA Women’s Super League.

A largely new side had been assembled but to really announce their arrival, a trophy was needed.
The FA Women’s Super League Cup saw City drawn in Group 2 along with Liverpool, Doncaster Belles, Everton, Sunderland and Durham.
City would win four games and lose one to top the group and as only the winners progressed, moved straight into the semi-finals where Chelsea awaited.
A 1-0 victory set up a final against Arsenal (who had seen off Notts County) at Wycombe Wanderers’ Adams Park.
Covered live by BT Sport, it was City’s biggest platform yet – and one they wouldn’t disappoint on – with Izzy Christiansen bagging the only goal of the game on 73 minutes.

It wasn’t hard t see how much the trophy – also known as the Continental Cup – meant to the City players, fans and club as a whole.
It was indeed a momentous achievement and also announced that there was a new kid on the block of women’s football – one with burning ambition…
